Scoliosis treatment using acupuncture, myofascial release and muscle energy.

Scoliosis is the name given to a spinal abnormality when the spine bends laterally (in the frontal plane) that is, to the side. Typically there is a lateral bend in the lumbar region and another in the opposite direction in the thoracic spine through which the person compensates. in order for spinal segments to flex laterally there is a necessary rotation in the opposite direction.

This leads to people referring to scoliosis as a "twisted spine". This also leads to complications in additional adaptations which make each case quite different. For example one patient might get headaches from overly tight trapezius and lezator scapula muscles, where another might suffer primarily from low back and hip pain.

Case History

This patient, a 27 year old professional female had a scoliosis with lateral flexion to the left and hypertonic paraspinal muscles down the right hand side with a less pronounced curve back to the right in the thorax.
